Kenta Okamoto

Peace and love II

Kenta Okamoto, LIVE interviewed him already around the time of the release of "PALE", and that wasn't the only time we've passed the man's edits around either. Now, still the same gifted cameraman amidst a crew of equally inventive and Japanese skaters, "PEACE AND LOVE V.2" turns out to be the direct spiritual sequel to the previous eponymous installment and consists in eighteen minutes of all new footage - them guys really are at it! As expected from Kenta by now, the filming and editing are stellar, the soundtrack exquisite and there might be one of the best flatground 360 flips ever filmed somewhere in there, too - amongst just as remarkable urban, mostly nocturnal, prowess.

And to keep in touch with Japan even better, may we recommend again the UGLY WEAPON videos, featuring a few heads in common - most especially, their latest piece of output for now: "SAMMY".

Peace and love

From the Tokyo-based crew already behind (amongst some other madness) the twelve-minute video "PALE" (which you can still watch and rewatch, alongside an interview with filmmaker Kenta Okamoto, here), just popped up a new piece: "PEACE AND LOVE" is a five-minute VX-2000 edit which, as usual, turns out to be excellent on all levels. It's also marking a new chance to see the graceful styles of Ryusei Sakurai, Ryo Takahashi or Naoya Kato, for instance - and also to witness quite the waterfall of crazy spots and improbable kickflips, meeting only to better serve the strengths of Kenta's experimental editing. Just as a due reminder: Kenta's YouTube channel can be explored here!

PREMIERE / "Pale" / Kenta Okamoto / INTERVIEW

Kenta Okamoto, from Tokyo: LIVE has had the pleasure of sharing his works before, and some great local videos they are, most often pairing up remarkable urban skating from underrepresented rippers with rather dreamy soundtracks, in a style only made even more particular by his fondness for the less popular Sony VX-2000, which he actually puts to stellar use. Today, LIVE is presenting "PALE": Kenta's brand new twelve-minute film, his most ambitious one to date and for the occasion, we got to ask him a few questions regarding the process and intent, as to complete the picture. An exchange you're welcome to read, available in both English, French and Japanese (again thanks to the gracious help of our good friend Connor Kammerer), just below!

Tokyo semester recap

Kenta Okamoto, the man already behind the imminent full-length video "PALE", the trailer for which LIVE recently shared, is back today with a new edit of his: "2020年上半期の思い出", a compilation of his favorite "memories from the first semester of the year twenty twenty", as the literal translation of the title gives away. Although a couple of clips from that trailer have been reused, for the most part we're gifted with new lines aplenty, again orchestrated to a dreamy soundtrack, as though to better put you in skate trance before you even get to step on your board today - hopefully at night, too, and in and around Tokyo, if you're amongst the luckiest!

Pale

Kenta Okamoto just contacted us straight outta Tokyo to show us the trailer for his new full-length video: "PALE", the release of which is announced for sometime during the year twenty twenty and although its nature remains a bit mysterious, the roster is really promising; Kenta himself introduced his filming process as "recording skaters who have a style" and without a doubt, he will live up to the ensuing expectations considering that the likes of Ryusei Sakurai (who could also be seen in the latest "UGLY WEAPON" montage, shared here) and many more are (literally) on board. And as for the trailer, it's the testimony of some fine VX-2000, plus with a certain poetry infused.
