Olly Todd

Not so static

Falling into the category of very (very) good news, Danny Renaud's part in the Static III video is finally available free thanks to our friends from Theories of Atlantis. As you know, to get this magnificent final result you need Josh Stewart at the realization. But in addition to that we have an amazing Danny Renaud making us a pure demonstration of street skating in what is the best. A mastery of an almost perfect flatground, grinds which seems impossible at first glance, tricky endless manuals, and a lot of good big gaps because otherwise the panoply is not complete. All that with a good dose of speed and a unique style, in short a real Swiss knife of skateboard. It might not look like it, but this video was released a decade ago, and has not aged a day since… Classic material.

Lucas est là!

Once again, Palace takes everybody by surprise, by not dropping the infamous full-length, but a relatively short edit, with mainly two strong points: off course Lucas Puig settles in nicely, by skipping the induction seminar to just moving in the office with the sea view and all… That, and a quasi full part of Danny Brady that will put the younglings in check about why they should have full respect for the man! From Jahmal Smith to Rory Milanes –and let's not forget Lucien Clarke– everybody is in fine form, here, and no when they go to NYC it is not just to open new stores… Let's also note an Olly Todd featuring, shall we?

"A Decade Late" / The Howard House video

When a skaters apartment earns a name of its own, it is when it officially reaches "skate house" status, which makes it a meeting point, a permanently squatted ground and a sort of lighthouse for visitors coming from far, far away… This is exactly what was the Howard House, when that millennium was young, in one of the most dreamed about destination back then: San Francisco. From actual tenants to long term "guests", many have spend, back then, at least one night or for weeks there, a stay that would turn into improbable sessions the next day mixing all types of skating and skaters… So, why this footage is only coming out now, you'd ask? This is a story that we will tell you in the next days with the help of the in-house photographer, Richard Hart. Meanwhile, here are ten minutes of good times in between roommates and complete, as well as full part from one of the classiest man to ever step on a board: Ocean Howell. That's right. A Plaitford Productions offering!

Meeting… Josh Stewart!

On sound, history and motivational speaking…

Making-of

The most interesting, here, apart from giving us the occasion to witness the efforts that take filming a full length as important as Static III, is the chance to face the greatness of Danny Renaud and Olly Todd at their prime… Let's not even mention the only Sabback trick, a moment of pure grace on what actually looks like a trap disguised as a possible spot. But, well, Josh, when is the 4 dropping, seriously!?

In the bottle

Let's say it: this little edit is in complete infraction with what is referred to as "The Olly Todd rule" at Live –according to which your skating is supposed to be as good as the song/track you pick up for your part– since it put together "throwaway" footage to one of the best song from Gil Scott-Heron! But, lets salute some real nice clips in there, nonetheless…

London calling

Ah, yeah, now that is an easy title, but, come on, this Who's Who of the London underground doing its best on a selection of not so known spots of the Big Brick needs a call to arms! Plus seeing Chris Pullman –still rocking the postman look– and Olly Todd ripping should be celebrated!
