Guy Mariano

Cyrus alert!

Well, yeah, we've got to signal a new Bennett part, and even celebrate it! And, once again, he does not mess around when it comes to skating fast and well, without having to reach stunt levels to inspire. A bit like the rest of the cast here. And that one up-and-coming old man named Lance Mountain aligns perfectly with the younglings by keeping it beyond classy on the edge of that one pool in the backyard…

Interview / Guy Mariano

Even in an era many seem prone to associate with notoriously short attention spans, you'd still be hard pressed to run into a skateboarder unaware of Guy Mariano's legacy…

The Durao case…

He was on everybody's lips, and here just just collectively slaps skateboarding with the perfect mix of power and technique…

'Til infinity?

OK, kids, if you want to see an adult cry on the spot, today, just play them that video… Because all his youth lies there! But, yours also, at the end of it, and mainly our common roots. And this is where the Girl/Choco camp has always been best: respecting the roots of skateboarding, while pushing its ideas a little further… And, right, there, this edit is almost scary in a way! What you think?

Oldies but goldies!

A little look back, to the blessed (?) era of the Year 2000, when pants were baggier and with horrible cuts, and the shoes… Ah, the shoes… But let's stay focused on what matters: a time when Girl and Chocolate were at the top of the food chain, and for one reason –and the best of all– a team unduplicable (if that's even a word) for its talent pool of course, but also its styles. And, no, that post is not addressing only to those of us that are trying to hide a burgeoning belly under a hat from the latest drop. No, and this is the true beauty of skateboarding: it can be timeless, like a flatland switch pop shove-it by Stevie Williams. Yes, you read right. Why don't you check for yourself? You could get inspired…

Our Guy!

One could sense it coming but, here, it is now official! Short edit, but a quite good good capture of what the L.A. sessions where he lands his complex tricks are like… And that's an interesting angle. A new proof of the Strobeckian influence of Western Civilization?

Memory Lane

A little look back at a time where things might not have been more simple, but they sure looked like it… And, yes, Chocolate is about to turn 20! And no, Paulo Diaz hasn't changed one bit since, since… Forever? You can not buy style: you got it or you don't.

You need that tape!

The 20 years of Girl skateboards are still being celebrated, and we will not complain about that that! Here, the good people at Orchard skateshop (Boston) add their take on it, with a mixtape of their favorite parts, selected all along the years of the brand, and put together the old school way. Let's note the old parts steal the show, especially the curtains. Off course you know which part it is… Proof, once again, that things never get old when they are good.

The week-end remix…

All good stuff, already seen, for sure, but nicely put together and getting a new life out of it… Oh, and a schooling on Mike Carrol, at the end, for whoever might not know!

a public service announcement

Some of you might have missed those 45 secondes, by lack of interest for tech skating or pure lazyness, and that would be shame: simply ask yourself which skater could skate the diversity of spots shown here and do it with such control? Your list should be rather short. Really short…
