Nik Stain

Moscow Drift

The Atlantic Drift saga now lives onto its tenth chapter with this new installment in which Moscow turns out to be the playing fields. The featured skateboarders make for quite the all-star roster as the project's timeline is shared by the resourceful, varied likes of Chris Jones, Max Palmer, Nick Jensen or Nik Stain; although, the true M.V.P. here has to be the seemingly invincible Tom Knox whose skating really proves to display a savant reading of the urban architecture, absurdly well-refined technical sorcery even in environments so unpractical they become straight up hostile, and finesse as the capital cherry atop of the cake.

Behind the lens and in the editing room: again Jacob Harris, one of the most important skate videographers of the last decade ("Eleventh Hour", "Vase"). What can go wrong?

Raw sugar

Where William Strobeck revives all the fundamentals of San Francisco skateboarding with a fresh twist, in exactly twenty-seven minutes and fourteen seconds… From the unadulterated downhill rodeo that have made the GX 1000 crew famous to Sammy's line at EMB, this is got something for everybody and as everybody was waiting for it, well, this is just perfect…

High quality

In fact, we are not watching the best video in the world. Indeed, it is a bit raw and you should not have seasickness. But since it is Nik Stain, we should all be able to forgive. This man really has the art and the way to make any trick of the most basic still more pleasant to look at. How? I don’t know, probably because he takes ten times the speed needed before committing on something, perhaps because of his ease in switch or the accuracy of his flip tricks. In short, for once, it's the quality of the skateboard that catches up with the quality of the video, you have to enjoy it, nonetheless.

Merci!

This is the video we all needed. We will not dwell too much on the incredible cast that is proposed here, because it’s rather normal when we have the Nike Sb team at hand. On the other hand, we must note that there are some faces that we are not used to see and it's really cool. Beyond that, it's probably one of the best videos we've seen this year (and not only because Live co-organized the Paris premiere), almost everyone must have a favorite skater that appeared here. We go from Great-Britain to the United-States with two different ways to practice, to approach spots but always with an energy more than overflowing. There is also a particularly violent Casper Brooker almost reminding us the Hockey videos. It's also a great opportunity to remember how incredible Daan Van Der Linden is and that he does not skates for Antihero for nothing! But above all, here is finally a real part for Caleb Barnett, something that is expected at least since the “Hockey III”! At filming, Jacob Harris and Ant Travis shared the task and really worked to make something irreproachable. In short, an effective video and well executed in every way, thank you!

Another skate clip?

When I grow up, I wanna skate like Nik Stain! How about you? Him, or Vincent Touzery…

Evening glory

Hjalte at Stalin Platz is about a match made in heaven, isn't it? Oh, and Nik Stain reminds us all (well, we look at you, youngsters!) what a proper backside smith is made of, and our very own Paul Grund explodes a few of those glorious moments he is famous for. Another great Ben Chadourne work, we tell ya!

B side

A nice compilation of second angles, "outtakes" and other never seen before footie from some of the most interesting projects filmed recently in NYC make for a great showcase of what's happening in the Big Apple nowadays. Also includes Vincent Touzery!

Dirt River

Young Tao just dropped a new edit, featuring his buddies as well as more known faces, captured on his home turf, or on the road… Even managing to film park skating in an exciting way, which is a rare enough feat to be noted!

Stain alert!

Dat Nik dude! The only capable of turning your parking garage manual pad into a very macho thing to skate… Which is quite an exploit in itself, if you think about it. And the rest of the crew is quite good at that raw raw shit!

Sup!??

The ever explosive Cyrus, Roman in full finesse, a Max Palmer at his best, pretty much every New-Yorker you dig and a Touzery for the grand finale… Wait, you haven't cicked, yet!?

Sequence 1

John Wilson and buddies: the perfect recipe… Here, we have a Nick Boserio at his best in spots aggression, an always unexpected Max Palmer, and the Cyrus Bennett we all love! Let's note also the improbable wallie kickflip…

Good resolution

OK, so, as spring is getting nearer, let's collectively decide to keep this Nik Stain part in mind, and use it as a source of inspiration for when the days will dry up. Manuals applied in interesting spots, lines that keeps you excited and the same power on trannies and in the streets? We're all for it!
