Yoan Taillandier

Jacopower

The duo between Jacopo Carrozi from Milan (on the planks) and Yoan Taillandier from Bordeaux (behind the lens) hits hard, again and this time with what's announced to be just the beginning in a new series of web clips, even: "MILAN: CHAPTER ONE" is two minutes and a half of some of the most internationally renowned VX-1000 action paired up with some brutal and solid street skating, subsequently edited Yoan style in a modern and daytime Minuit style that's certainly evocatice of his video works for Futur.

Valls around the world

Chris Thiessen, longtime indie skate filmmaker brought under the worldwide spotlight as a participant in the Threads Idea Vacuum artisanal think tank and then via his direction of some volumes of the TransWorld SKATEboarding full-length video legacy, LIVE hasn't been without presenting his works before and we even interviewed him regarding "RIDDLES IN MATHEMATICS", that one time. For a little bit now, he's been dropping fresh edits of raw footage on his YouTube channel and after, notably, Yaje Popson and Brad Cromer's respective turns, it is now time for a Frenchman to be treated with the same deal: Magenta Bordeaux rider Léo Valls, to be accurate, on the basis of clips collected between 2016 and 2019 in Atlanta, N.Y.C., Los Angeles, Long Beach, Miami, Bordeaux, Paris and Barcelona - with some guest data in the mix, contributed by Yoan Taillandier. Quite the frenetic dance around the world, as though in hopes to tame that crispy VX-1000, eventually!

Around Midnight

Yoan Taillandier's visual craftsmanship and sharpest fish-eye skills than most is what you can thank for - amongst many other influential video pieces - the first "Minuit" video, as early as 2011 - the underground hit that shook the world, and made refined street skating presented well a focus in the whole Western skate world again, all the while itself being directly influenced by the minutiae of a sophisticated Japanese skate scene. Word on the street is that whoever it is that the relevancy of the aforementioned film may have flown over the head of at the time, due to being spiritually phagocitized by the hottest Californian trends and accustomed to a religion of wooden skatepark-based podcasts, is still trying their best to recreate that video and instill it with just as impactful long-term significancy to this day, and that's eight years later...

Anyway, even though Yoan, the filmer, never really left anywhere himself (as can be attested by his works for clothing brand Futur), this new edit displays the willpower to bring Minuit altogether back in full force, notably by the means of a new series of web clips this piece is the first installment in, so far; consisting in footage filmed from Paris to Italy, going through Marseille and exploring even the cuttiest spots, then consequently experienced by Pat HoblinJames ColemanYaje Popson, Logan Lewis, Yensi Lama and Evan Kinori - more European than ever for the most part, and even in broad daylight, much to our delight!

Better late than never…

Because, well, yes, that new Yoan Taillandier edit is made of footage filmed in San Francisco five years ago, but the great thing about skateboarding, just like for wine, is that it ages well, and even often really well. Well, unless you are on team managing duties… One will notably note what could almost make a full part of James Coleman and his signature powerful yet flowing style.

Marseille, le zoo!

Wait, those Marseille kids are popping, these days! Could they be border-line hyper-active? Well, maybe not… But they sure now how to make it look good and fun, right!?

"Vladimir" / PREMIERE

In seven years of existence, Nikola Racan's Vladimir Film Festival has slowly but surely grown to become a remarkable institution as part of the European - not to say worldwide - skate scene, gathering hundreds of skateboarders from the whole world over in the small croatian village of Fažana every year. On location every year since (nearly) the beginning, Aymeric Nocus picked 2017 as the year to finally bring his video camera with him, as an effort to capture and share as much of that effervescence as possible, with precious VX-1000 assistance from George Toland and Rémi Luciani who documented the energy of the skate sessions. The final product is now premiereing on LIVE Skateboard Media, after physical premieres at the Mimpi Film Festival in Rio De Janeiro and the Roundabout Fest in Berlin... Worldwide connexions!

Yoan Taillandier / 5 W's!

As to better accompany his new Bordeaux montage, here's another dimension of Yoan's perspective on all things MINUIT, through the prism of our classic treatment-by-the-5 W's!
